The PRTR is important for the general public, citizen organizations, researchers and academics because it provides access to information on local, regional or national pollution. PRTR data are available online and can be searched according to various criteria: individual facility, owner/operator, type of pollutant, type of activity and environmental medium (air, water, soil, waste).
PRTR enables:
- access to information on environmental pollution,
- public participation in decision-making on environmental issues,
- identification of potential exposure to pollutants and risks caused by emissions from nearby facilities;
- To make better informed decisions.
- monitoring the progress of the plant and reducing the impact on the environment,
- Spatial representation of emissions and identification of potential hotspots or possible correlations between exposure and observed effects on health or the environment.
